RUSSIAN SILVER-GILT AND NIELLO TANKARD
Illegible maker’s mark, Moscow, 1869
The body set at intervals with roundels, surrounded with scrolling foliage between reeded bands,
two roundels nielloed with views of the Kremlin, the hinged cover with conforming decoration,
the scroll handle with pierced thumb piece, also decorated with scrolling foliage
Marked with an illegible maker’s mark, Moscow 1869 and 84 Russian silver standard
Height (including thumb piece) 5 1/2 in. (14 cm)
CONDITION:
Some rubbing of gilding to the outside, mostly to the center of the lid, gilding inside is good. Scratching and wear to the bottom consistent with age.
Good overall condition.
