A KPM PORCELAIN PLATE FROM THE SERVICE OF THE RUSSIAN GRAND DUKE ANDREI VLADIMIROVICH
KPM, mid-19th century
Circular, with scalloped rim, the border centering the Cyrillic cypher AV beneath Russian Imperial Crown,
decorated with alternating green and red lozenges amid gilt scrolling foliage on a white ground,
the center painted with a scene of a gentleman riding in a carriage,
the reverse inscribed, “Droschka de M. Horace Vernet.”
Marked on the underside with blue and red KPM marks
Diameter 9 7/8 in. (25 cm)
CONDITION:
Light surface scratching to gilding in areas, good overall condition.
NOTE:
Grand Duke Andrei Vladimirovich of Russia (1879-1956) was a son of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich of Russia,
a grandson of Emperor Alexander II and a first cousin of Nicholas II, Russia’s last Tsar.
