A MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURINE  EMBLEMATIC OF THE SENSE OF HEARING

Meissen, model by Carl Christoph Punct, circa 1760-1765

Modeled as an elegant couple, the lady seated holding a bird in a gold hoop,

the gentleman standing in front of a leafy tree stump and holding a goat playing bagpipes,

a monkey seated between them playing a flute, on a pierced and gilt-edged scrollwork base.

Marked with an underglaze blue crossed swords mark and incised model number “Z974.” 

Hight – 7 7/8 in. (20 cm)
