A RUSSIAN PATINATED BRONZE GROUP by E. LANCERAY “Zaporozhian Cossack After Battle”

Cast by N. Shtange after the model by Evgeny Lanceray (1848-1886), late 19th century 

On a shaped oval naturalistic base, realistically cast as a cossack warrior on horseback,

wiping the blood off his sword using his horse’s mane, the horse of his defeated enemy is tethered to his mount

Signed on base in Cyrillic “LEPIL E. LANCERAY”, also with foundry mark “OTL. N. SHTANGE”

Hight (top of cossack’s hat) 18 in. (45,7 cm), width 18 3/4 in. (47,7 cm)


Light wear, good condition.
