enameled overall with varicolored birds on foliate branches within white enamel geometric borders,
the detachable cover similarly decorated
Marked P. Ovchinnikov in Cyrillic, Moscow 1881 and 88 Russian silver standard
Width (bird to bird) 5 7/8 in. (14,2 cm), height (to top of cover) 3 1/2 in. (8,9 cm), depth (bird to bird) 5 in. (12,7 cm)
CONDITION:
Some staining to the bottom. Scratching and wear to the interior consistent with age. Good overall condition.
NOTE:
Champleve enamels of this quality and complexity are extremely rare.
