RUSSIAN  9-PIECE PARCEL-GILT SILVER PUNCH SERVICE

V. Akimov, Moscow, 1894

Comprising a bowl (bratina) with kovsh-form ladle, tray and six cups, all with matte finish surfaces and gilded interior,

engraved with Roman numeral 25 (most likely representing 25 years of service) and initials VOD (Vasily Osipovich Dent) in Cyrillic,

the tray with engraved inscription in Russian: “To Vasily Osipovich Dent as a token of sincere love and respect from the Mechanical Department of the Yaroslavl Grand Manufacture”,
dated “August 15th, 1869-1894”,

in original leather trimmed wooden box (the Khlebnikov patch on the inside of the box is not original and was added later),

the lid applied with a plaque engraved in Russian: “From the Manager and Office of Workshops. Locksmiths, Machinists, Modellers, Blacksmiths, Hammermen, Casters, Woodturners, Decorators, Gasmen, Steammen, Greasers, Stokers and others.” 

Marked VA in Cyrillic, Moscow 1894 and 84 Russian silver standard

Tray – diameter 13 15/16 in. (35,4 cm)
Bowl – height 5 1/8 in. (13 cm), width (widest part) 6 7/8 in. (17,5 cm)
Ladle – length 8 3/8 in. (21,3 cm)
Cups – height 2 5/8 in. (6,7 cm)
Box – 16 1/4 in. (41,3 cm) x 16 1/4 in. (41,3 cm) x 5 7/8 in. (15 cm)

CONDITION:

All pieces are in good condition. Light surface wear due to age. Interior gilding well preserved.
Heavy wear to the leather trimmed wooden box, key is missing. The Khlebnikov patch (images 21 and 22) on the inside of the box is not original and was added later.
